The Founder of the Mouth Cancer Foundation, Dr Vinod Joshi, has just returned from the 6th International Academy of Oral Oncology, (IAOO), World Conference on Oral Cancer in Bangalore, India. 

The theme of the conference, which took place between the 17th and 20th May was ‘Frontiers in Oral Oncology’. The event is a unique forum for clinicians and scientists to review and discuss advances in early detection, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of oral cancer. The event is attended by representatives from all over the world. 

Vinod learnt about the latest in the early detection methods, awareness campaigns, diagnosis and treatments for oral cancer.

In addition Vinod was able to successfully raise awareness of the charity’s work as well as being invited by Professor Mahesh to give a lecture to post graduates at the Dayananda Sagar College of Dental Sciences in Bangalore on Temporomandibular Disorders, while he was there.  

The IAOO was co-founded by Professor Jatin Shah from the United States of America,  the late Professor Crispian Scully from the UK,  Professor Jean-Louis Lefebvre of  France and Professor Alexis Rapidis from Greece. Vinod was one of the initial 150 Founding Fellows of the IAOO after its founding was proposed in 2005 at the 10th World Oral Cancer Conference in Crete.
