The world’s largest supplier of health care products, Henry Schein, leading practice branded dental plans provider, DPAS and CPD and e-learning content contributor ProDentalCPD have joined forces with the Mouth Cancer Foundation to sponsor a brand new life saving initiative, the Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme.

Dental Industry heavy weights have come together as a thorough head and neck cancer screening can be carried out by Dentists in just 2 minutes.  They all support the Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme which is calling for every dental practice to be doing it in order to increase early detection rates and save lives.

The scheme recognises dental practices that demonstrate a visible commitment to increasing public awareness of mouth cancer screening to all patients and to establish a documented referral pathway with a local specialist department.

Awareness is integral to achieving early detection of head and neck cancers, thus saving lives.  The Mouth Cancer Foundation will accredit dental practices that routinely participate in oral cancer screening.  Full membership includes access to a dedicated section of the charity website and FREE 1 hour CPD element as well as professional development and training modules suitable for all members of the practice team to ensure regular screening benefits practice patients.

Founder of the Mouth Cancer Foundation, Dr Vinod Joshi says “We are hugely grateful to companies such as Henry Schein, DPAS and ProDentalCPD for supporting our initiative.  Working together with such well known companies, will enable us to save as many lives as possible through earlier detection of head and neck cancers.”

Henry Schein Vice President, Patrick Allen says “We believe the Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme is a great way of providing a life saving service in just two minutes.  This scheme should make it is easy for practices to incorporate into every patient’s routine examination and as a result increase early detection rates.  We are delighted to be supporting the Mouth Cancer Foundation.”

DPAS Director, Andrew Warren, continues “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme, as we feel it will offer practices a simple solution to head and neck cancer screening, which can save lives. The Mouth Cancer Foundation does a fantastic job in raising awareness and providing support to sufferers, so we’re particularly pleased to be able to support this new initiative.”

ProDentalCPD Director, Robert Dyas adds “We are thrilled to be providing the CPD and e-learning content of the Mouth Cancer Screening Accreditation Scheme.  In just one hour every member of the practice team can discover the benefits of a thorough head and neck cancer screening.  The Mouth Cancer Foundation has created a great initiative.”
